In order to build a progressive community that is successful at improving conditions and resolving problems, community members must appreciate existing diversity, establish diverse relationships with people of different backgrounds, and build strong alliances with different cultural groups through empathy. This all can be accomplished by bringing in diverse group representation into the center of civic activity!
